Post 2: Why i choose to study theatrical design

I`m a very indecisive person so when i had to choose wich career i wanted to study it was quite a difficult decision to make for me. When i was in school i had a very closed mind on what careers i was suposed to study: i wanted to be a lawyer. But when time passed i started changing my mind and see the posibilitys. I started liking journalism, geography, cinema and i found it really hard to decide, but at the end i decided i liked geography better and i stick to that. But first i was going to take a year off to be completely sure about my decission.
But when i did the PSU, and the results were good enough to make me in, i felt excited and decided to enter inmediately, instead of taking a year off. Bad decision. After a few months on the career my motivation went down and suddenly i didn`t felt comfortable studying that, so i decided to leave the career and take half of the year off to think about what was what i really wanted. That`s when i begin to make some circus and language courses, and that`s when i developed a passion for the circus and body activity. I was training daily and really happy about it, and at the same time studying to do the PSU once again and try to get a better score so it was easier to enter to whatever i wanted. At that moment i wasn`t really interested on getting back to the dynamic of university, and i really wanted to just dedicate to circus, but the social and family opinions made me decide to choose something to study. That`s when theatrical design appeared as the best option to keep having circus around and also be creative. I was still confused about what i wanted because im seriously a really indecisive person and i love every career, from health to social sciences and art. But in the end i choose theatrical design.
At this point, im on my second year studying this and of course, im still indecisive about it, i keep thinking how my life would be if i could still be training daily and super dedicated to that, but at the same time i love my career. Even thought i love it, i also hate it sometimes cause this is a really applicant way of living, having to do many works daily and everything, it makes you feel tired, but what you learn is so exciting and interesting, that you fell in love with it.

  1. Hey Genesis, great life story here, one is never sure about things unless you take the time to actually do them. I am really sure that year you "took off" really helped you to learn new things and be confident about yourself and your future choices.
